By far the largest series in the Synar collection, Legislative contains some 82,809 items that cover a wide range of materials and the congressman's full tenure in office.

Contains various materials which were removed from the pockets of a two pocket folder titled "Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. Materials include items such as Dear Colleague letter on designating the Arctic National Wilderness Refuge as a wilderness area (H.R. 39),a Congressional Research Service (CRS) Issue Brief and other reports, maps, and pamphlets on the wilderness area produced by the Department of the Interior, Fish and Wildlife Service.

Contains various materials pertaining to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) ordering the immediate emergency suspension of the pesticide ethylene dibromide (EDB) in 1983 as a soil fumigant for agricultural crops and the cancellation and phase out of all other major pesticide uses of EDB. Includes materials dated in 1987 on the EPA cutting safety reviews in order to meet increasing disposal costs for banned pesticides.

Contains various materials, including newspaper clippings, Dear Colleague letters, statements by Synar, news releases, and testimony before subcommittees, regarding ground water contamination.
