President Nixon proposed a government reform plan in 1971 that aimed to reorganize the executive branch of government. However, the plan faced challenges in Congress, with lobbyists, and in the outdated structure of government. The Citizens Committee for Government Reorganization is a non-partisan organization focused on educating the public and leaders about the importance of rational organization of the Federal Executive branch. They believe the current structure is inadequate and are pushing for urgent reorganization to improve administration, eliminate overlap, establish priorities, and improve government services. Their action program includes sending letters to leaders, publishing articles, appearing on television shows, conducting "road shows" in cities, giving speeches to target groups, possible advertising, outreach to educators, and not lobbying but allowing individual members to contact Congress if they choose., 1971-03-25
