MI-GA-DAY / Standing High Collection

This collection contains a variety of audio recordings of Kiowa and Navajo traditional culture. Included are songs, stories, histories, and introductions of members of the communities. Also included is the audio track for a movie called “The Indian Summer of Darwin Maw-Awn-Kee,” narrated by Virgil Dominic and produced by Gene Autry and Jerry Powell in relations with the University of Oklahoma Human Relations Center. This film is about the adolescence of Darwin Palmer, a member of the Kiowa tribe, and his assimilation and is dual identity as a member of the Kiowa tribe and an American teenage in the 1960s.
