It's bad enough to have plants closed and jobs lost, but it's criminal to have that happen without giving any prior notice to the workers, workers who have families to feed and payments to make. That's why I was one of the original co-sponsors of legislation that forces companies to give advance notice to their workers of plant closings and layoffs. And that's why I fought to raise the minimum wage and to pass the Family and Medical Leave Act and for better child care and for flexible schedules that recognize the needs of working parents and to protect Social Security and pensions against unfair cuts. You know, when we fight for our workers, we're really fighting to protect our country. All they're really asking for is a fair shake. They're not getting that today. That's why I'm asking for your support. To take this fight all the way to the White House. Vote for Al Gore. He's got a solid record.
