Scope and Contents

The document contains five copies of a press release announcing that the Choctaw Tribe was given the opportunity to vote on the settlement of certain treaty payments through the signing of the capitalization bill by the President. The bill, introduced by Congressman Carl Albert, commuted treaty payments into a lump sum for distribution to enrolled Choctaws and their heirs.
