I'm Charlton Heston. I'd like to talk to you about the presidential election. I voted for the Democratic candidate in every election I've taken part in, until now. This year, I'm supporting President Nixon. Seems to me this election is a lot more than a simple choice between two men or two parties. It's a choice between Senator McGovern's plan to walk out of Vietnam now, or the president's plan to make sure of the release of our prisoners first. It's a choice between the senator's radical tax and welfare schemes, or continuing the economic growth of the past four years. It's a choice between the senator's plan to cut our military budget to the point where we become a second-class power, or keeping this country as strong as it needs to be. With these choices, you can't just sit this election out. Every one of us had better get out and vote, or we just might get outvoted. November 7th at the polls, rain or shine. Be there, won't you?
