Maps, 1913-1950
Scope and Contents
This series contains the large-format cartographic material that Senator Elmer Thomas amassed and used throughout his long congressional career. The maps range from late-nineteenth-century Indian Territory surveys to mid-twentieth-century blueprints for Cold-War infrastructure. Together they illuminate Thomas’s legislative priorities—water reclamation, flood control, Indian affairs, regional electrification, transportation, defense preparedness, and economic development—while documenting broader national trends in engineering and land management.
