Guidance on Filing for Public Domain Indian Land: A Letter to Mrs. Ethel Barnett Moran, 1963-01-01 - 1963-12-31
Scope and Contents
Mrs. Ethel Barnett Moran of Norman, Oklahoma, wrote to Senator Mike Moroney requesting information on filing for public domain Indian land. She was informed that individuals interested in filing for such land must first obtain a Certificate of Eligibility from an appropriate Area Director. The Bureau of Land Management does not maintain a list of suitable lands, so it is the responsibility of the applicant to locate and request classification of the land. Moran requested information based on the Treaty of 1887.
