Correspondence Regarding the Progress of Pawnee Indian Land Claim Legislation, 1963-01-20

Scope and Contents

Henry E. Roberts wrote to Senator A. S. Mike Monroney regarding the progress of H.R. 5517, which contains funds for the Pawnee Indian judgment. Senator Monroney informed Roberts that the bill had passed the Senate with the full amount needed for the claim and would now go to a joint House and Senate conference for resolution of any differences. Roberts thanked Senator Monroney for his response and requested to be informed when the bill is finally passed by the Senate. Senator Monroney had previously indicated that the funds would be included in a Supplemental Appropriation Bill, and Roberts sought information on the status of the proposed legislation.
