Scope and Contents

Frank Hutchinson of the Bureau of Indian Affairs called to inquire about the intent and purpose of bill S. 1546, which pertains to leasing mineral deposits in the bed of the Red River in Oklahoma. He mentioned two previous statutes related to leasing of lands and oil and gas deposits belonging to the United States in Oklahoma. Hutchinson questioned whether these previous acts would be superseded by S. 1546 if enacted. John Burzio agreed to discuss the matter and get in touch with Hutchinson upon his return.
