Scope and Contents

In the letter dated February 27, 1963, Cowboy Pink Williams recommends Overton James to succeed Floyd E. Maytubby as Governor of The Chickasaw Nation. Williams highlights James' qualifications, education, experience, and affiliations. He asks Senator Mike Monroney to use his influence to help James get the appointment. In response, Senator Monroney thanks Williams for the recommendation and states that the appointment authority lies with the Secretary of the Interior, but he will keep Williams' advice in mind.
