Letter to Senator Elmer Thomas Regarding the Proposed Sale of Indian Timbered Lands, 1937-01-01 - 1937-12-31
Scope and Contents
The letter is from Pat Folsom Williams, expressing concern about the sale of valuable timbered lands by the Department of Interior without proper consideration of the actual cash value. Williams believes that the timber has significantly increased in value since it was appraised in 1912 and that the government has neglected to protect the timber on the land. Williams requests that the sale be postponed indefinitely until an investigation and adjustment of the timber removal has been made, and that mineral rights be reserved in the sale.
