Appeal Against the Unfair Sale of Native Indian Lands in 1937, 1937-07-19

Scope and Contents

Mrs. Lena Thomas has written a letter to Senator Elmer Thomas expressing concern about the sale of Indian lands, specifically timbered lands in the Eastern part of the state. She believes the government has neglected the timber on the land and allowed it to be removed for commercial purposes. She requests that the sale be postponed indefinitely until an investigation is conducted and the mineral rights are reserved. Senator Thomas assures Mrs. Thomas that he has received protests regarding the sale and will do what he can to help.
