Senator Elmer Thomas and Enoch Needham's Correspondence on the Sale of Native American Lands, 1937-07-17

Scope and Contents

Needham expresses concern about the sale of Indian lands, specifically timbered lands in Oklahoma, at their appraised value from 1912 without considering the growth and value of the timber since then. He requests an investigation into the timber that has been removed from the land and requests that the sale be postponed until mineral rights are reserved. Senator Elmer Thomas assures Needham of his cooperation and assistance in the matter.
