Correspondence Regarding the Administration and Protection of Choctaw and Chickasaw Tribal Timber Lands in Oklahoma, 1937, 1937-03-01
Scope and Contents
John Craig has inquired about the Choctaw and Chickasaw tribal timber lands in Oklahoma, expressing concern about theft and lack of protection for the timber. The Commissioner of Indian Affairs explains that due to the impracticality of administering and protecting the lands, there is consideration to sell off unutilized tracts to purchase more beneficial lands for the Tribes. Senator Elmer Thomas is informed of these developments and is asked for any suggestions.
