Scope and Contents

The letter dated June 7, 1937, from Elmer Thomas to Walter Colbert discusses the possibility of testing the land owned by the Chickasaw and Choctaw tribes for oil. Thomas suggests presenting the matter to the Chief of the Choctaws and the Governor of the Chickasaw Tribe while they are in Washington. Thomas expresses willingness to cooperate with them and discusses the potential for legislation to protect the land rights of the Tribes.
