Filing of Treaty Claims for the Pottawatomie Indian Tribe: A Letter to the Secretary of Interior, 1936, 1935-01-01 - 1936-12-31
Scope and Contents
Joe Simon, on behalf of the Pottawatomie Indian tribe of Mayetta, Kansas, is filing claims for treaties made between the tribe and the United States government. He alleges that deceptive methods were used to obtain a majority vote to commutate perpetual annuities, resulting in a loss of approximately twenty four thousand dollars per annum. The commutation was sponsored by F.C. Campbell, who was far removed from the affected tribe.
