1935 Quapaw Tribal Council's Appeal to Modify Executive Order on Restricted Indian Funds Disbursement, 1935-06-05

Scope and Contents

The Quapaw Tribal Council is requesting that an Executive Order requiring payments from their restricted funds to be made from a federal agency at Kansas City be rescinded. They argue that the current process is impractical for their tribe as most of their funds come from mining leases and many members are old and infirm with no other source of income. They also state that they have adequate facilities to handle applications for allowances within their tribe. The request is made out of concern for the well-being and financial stability of the restricted Quapaw Indians.
