Willis L. Smith requested information from the Department of the Interior regarding the amount of money paid to the Osage Indians for their mineral rights. The total amount received by the Osage Indians from oil and gas operations up to June 30, 1935, was $252,769,947.31. The request was made through Honorable Elmer Thomas, United States Senate.
