Scope and Contents
Senator Elmer Thomas received a letter from the Commissioner of Indian Affairs in response to a query from Eli Pumpkin regarding the pooling of Indian lands in Oklahoma. The Commissioner explained that the Seven Clan Society is not a federally recognized organization and suggested that they consider the Oklahoma Indian Welfare Bill as a potential solution for acquiring land. The Commissioner also advised Pumpkin to discuss the land needs of the group with Superintendent Landman.
