1935 Correspondence Regarding the Proposed Abolition of the Special Disbursing Agent Office of the Osage Indian Agency, 1935-04-15
Scope and Contents
The Chamber of Commerce in Pawhuska, Oklahoma is opposing the abolishment of the Special Disbursing Agent office at the Osage Indian Agency. They have sent a resolution to government officials, including Senator Elmer Thomas, requesting that the office not be abolished. The Department of the Interior has addressed the issue and explained that the proposed change is not within their jurisdiction, but rather the Treasury Department's. They have requested that the function of disbursing for the Indian Service be delegated to current officers and employees.
