From Defense Base to School: The Historical Transformation of Fort Cantonment, 1948-01-01 - 1948-12-31
Scope and Contents
Fort Cantonment, once a strong link in the chain of western fortresses, now stands as a battered monument to the pioneers. Originally built in 1876 to protect against Indian uprisings, the fort was later converted into a school where Indians were taught useful skills. The fort played a significant role in the settlement of the west, along with other forts in the area. Today, the fort is in disrepair, but serves as a reminder of the region's history.
