Scope and Contents
Senator Elmer Thomas is responding to a letter from Mrs. N. F. Orr regarding the payment to Indian tribes for the sale of Choctaw and Chickasaw Coal and Asphalt lands. The Office of Indian Affairs is working on negotiations for the purchase price and distribution of proceeds, with consideration given to Mrs. Orr's suggestions. Mrs. Orr suggests monthly payments of $100 to all Indians, as some are in need and struggling to make a living.
