Scope and Contents
The letter is in response to McIntosh's interest in the sale of coal and asphalt lands belonging to the Choctaw and Chickasaw Tribes. The author explains that the appointment of a Chief of the Choctaws is made by the President, based on the recommendation of the Secretary of the Interior. The author suggests McIntosh contact the Secretary of the Interior directly. McIntosh also requests assistance in ensuring that his family receives their fair share of the sale.
