Scope and Contents
Mrs. G.A. Lovett is writing to Senator Elmer Thomas to recommend J. H. Belvin for appointment as Principal Chief of the Choctaw tribe. Belvin is described as a hardworking and educated Choctaw who was selected by the Choctaw people at a tribal meeting. Senator Thomas responds, stating that the appointment does not need Senate confirmation and recommends writing directly to the Secretary of the Interior for further action.
