Improving Community Involvement in Government Programs: A Report on the 1968 Community Representatives Advisory Council Meeting, 1968-01-01 - 1968-12-31
Scope and Contents
The document discusses the criticism and suggestions from the Community Representatives Advisory Council (CRAC) regarding the Office of Economic Opportunity (OEO). The CRAC feels that the involvement of the poor is not recognized or acted upon by OEO at the regional and community level. They suggest establishing regional CRACs to educate community representatives on OEO programs and funding. The Poor want a voice in program prioritization and evaluation, and more grants for low-income housing. They also recommend tapping retired Federal employees for poverty agency jobs and ensuring that representatives on CAP boards are actually from the Poor community.
