Scope and Contents

The Women in the War on Poverty conference took place at the Washington Hilton Hotel on May 16. The event included a plenary session, greetings from Mayor Walter Washington, a luncheon, workshops on various topics related to poverty, a film showing, and receptions. Vice President Hubert Humphrey and Senator Fred S. Harris were among the speakers at the event. Additionally, there were off-the-record dialogues on racism and meetings between workshop leaders and reporters to prepare reports for presentation.
