Scope and Contents

Mrs. LaDonna Harris, wife of Sen. Fred Harris, attended an Omaha Indian powwow in Macy and received a shawl as a gift. She expressed her desire to help the Indian people and emphasized the importance of allowing them to make their own decisions. She also mentioned that her husband, a possible Democratic presidential nominee, would have liked to be there. Additionally, LaDonna Harris's cousin Michelle, who is part Comanche and part Omaha Indian, aspires to become a social worker to help the Indian community. The shawl presented to LaDonna Harris was handmade by two Macy women, and she mentioned that she might wear it in the White House someday.
