Scope and Contents

LaDonna Harris, a Comanche activist and wife of Senator Fred R. Harris, has been working for over ten years to improve the living conditions and opportunities for American Indians. She founded Oklahomans for Indian Opportunity, which focuses on self-help programs for Indian youth and adults. Harris has also been involved in various committees and organizations advocating for Indian rights and empowerment. She hopes that her work will inspire similar efforts nationwide and is eager for the National Council for Indian Opportunity to become more active in addressing the issues faced by Indian communities.
