Scope and Contents

LaDonna Harris and Iola Hayden founded Oklahoma for Indian Opportunity (OIO) to promote unity and self-help among American Indians in Oklahoma. The organization provides various programs and services to empower Indians and address their needs. Despite criticism and challenges, OIO has been successful in reaching and serving the Indian population in the state.
