Correspondence Regarding Voting Rights and Procedures in Five Tribes Elections

Scope and Contents

Senator Dewey F. Bartlett received a letter from Betty J. Brown suggesting a procedure to streamline the documentation process for voting rights in Five Tribes elections. Brown believes that individuals reinstated to the Dawes Commission Rolls should be allowed voting rights without having to provide extensive documentation. Bartlett forwarded the letter to Thomas J. Ellison for his views and opinions on the matter. Ellison, the Area Director of the Muskogee Area Bureau of Indian Affairs, is requested to provide input on the suggested procedure.
