Scope and Contents

State editors are criticizing the Kingmakers for nominating Richard Nixon as the Republican candidate for president. They argue that Nixon offers nothing new or different, and that his election will not give the American people much new choice on national affairs. The editors believe that other Republican candidates, such as Rockefeller, Reagan, Romney, Percy, or Thurston Morton, would have had a better chance of winning the election. They also criticize Nixon and Eisenhower for their failures in bringing American soldiers home from Korea and for their lack of reform of the New Deal. The editors predict that Nixon will not win the presidential election and that many Democrats cannot support him.
