Correspondence Regarding Educational Aid for Descendants of Native American Ancestors, 1971-04-30

Scope and Contents

Mrs. Agnes J. Barron wrote to Senator Fred E. Harris inquiring about educational aid for children of Indian ancestry. She mentioned her daughter's relation to an original allottee and requested information on scholarships. Senator Harris forwarded the inquiry to the Bureau of Indian Affairs for further consideration. The Bureau responded, requesting more information to determine eligibility for educational aid. Senator Harris then sent Mrs. Barron a copy of the Bureau's reply and pamphlets on Indian educational scholarships. He also suggested contacting the Scholarship Office for more information.
