Two legal groups accused federal officials of misusing millions of dollars intended for poor Indian schoolchildren, claiming the funds were being used for other purposes. State and local officials denied these accusations and criticized the report. A new legal effort was announced to stop the misuse of funds, with plans to file federal suits and press for the firing of two Bureau of Indian Affairs officials.
