Scope and Contents

The document is a series of letters between Mrs. Vanda Halford, Senator Fred R. Harris, and the Bureau of Indian Affairs regarding financial assistance for Mrs. Halford's daughter's education. Senator Harris reached out to the Bureau of Indian Affairs to inquire about scholarships and financial aid for Mrs. Halford's daughter, who is a member of the Iowa tribe of Kansas and Nebraska. The Bureau of Indian Affairs provided information on available scholarships and educational aids for Indian youth and suggested contacting the Bureau of Health Manpower Education for additional assistance. Senator Harris also received a letter from the Inter-Tribal Council of the Five Civilized Tribes opposing an amendment to a Senate bill.
