Scope and Contents

Senator Fred R. Harris writes to Dr. Robert H. Ebert, Dean of Harvard Medical School, expressing concern about the shortage of Native American doctors and the need for more minority representation in the medical profession. Dr. Ebert responds, informing Senator Harris that four Native American applicants have been offered places at the school for the next year. He also discusses the Health Careers Summer Program, aimed at increasing the academic preparation of minority students to enhance their chances of admission to health-related professional schools. Financial support for the program is needed, and assistance from Senator Harris is welcomed.
