Correspondence Regarding Withdrawal of Federal Funding from the American Indian Women's Service League, 1971-03-31

Scope and Contents

The American Indian Women's Service League in Seattle has had its federal funding for a Talent Search program withdrawn, despite their efforts to meet conditions set by the Department of Health, Education, and Welfare. The League believes the decision is discriminatory and questions the lack of input they had in the selection of staff for the program. Senator Fred Harris has expressed regret about the unfavorable reply and offered future assistance. The League is requesting action to ensure they do not lose funding.
