Defending the Cherokee Bilingual Education Program: A Letter to Margaret Moore, 1970-05-07

Scope and Contents

Willard Walker receives a letter from Stuart Trapp regarding the Cherokee bilingual education program and a proposal for a Rumor Aid Project. Walker responds to accusations made by W.W. Keeler in a letter to Miss Margaret Moore, denying allegations of promoting violence and division within the tribe. He mentions a Senate investigation on the activities of outside do-gooders in the Cherokee area. Walker expresses willingness to provide information on Cherokee language and education programs. He also requests a true copy of a letter allegedly written by Keeler. Walker cc's the letter to Trapp, Sol Tax, Bob Thomas, and Al Wahrhaftig.
