Enforcement Action Against Noncompliance with Title IX in Maple School District: A Historical Record from 1977, 1977-12-09
Scope and Contents
Several school districts and higher education institutions have failed to return an assurance of compliance with Title IX form, which prohibits discrimination based on sex. The Office of Civil Rights in the Department of Health, Education, and Welfare is taking steps to enforce compliance, including withholding approval of new programs and funding. Noncompliance could eventually lead to the termination of all federal funds to the non-compliant institutions. The Department has made multiple attempts to remind and obtain assurances from the affected institutions, but enforcement action will be taken if necessary.
