Choctaw Nation Requests Participation in Selection of Health Service Director: Correspondence Overview, 1977-07-23

Scope and Contents

The Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma is requesting to participate in the selection process of a Service Unit Director for the Indian Health Service facility at Talihina. They are concerned about the reinstatement of Floyd Anderson, citing previous issues with his leadership. They are requesting support from Senator Dewey Bartlett and Secretary Joseph Califano to intervene and countermand the reinstatement. They believe that allowing the tribe to have a voice in the selection process is important for the delivery of quality health services.
