Scope and Contents

Mrs. Cleo Wallace wrote a letter to Carl Albert, a U.S. Representative, regarding payment to the Choctaws and Chickasaws for the sale of their lands to the government. Albert responded, informing her that payments to living enrolled members would begin that month and would be sent from the office of the Superintendent of the Five Civilized Tribes Agency in Oklahoma. He expressed his satisfaction that the debt was being paid and offered further assistance if needed.
