Payment Confirmation for Choctaws and Chickasaws: Sale of Coal and Asphalt Lands, 1949-07-05
Scope and Contents
Mrs. Sallie Colbert received a letter from Carl Albert, a congressman from Oklahoma, thanking her for her letter regarding payment to the Choctaws and Chickasaws for the sale of their coal and asphalt lands to the government. Albert assured Mrs. Colbert that the debt is being paid and checks will be sent to enrolled members starting that month. He expressed his happiness in being able to help in effecting a settlement and offered his assistance in any way. Mrs. Colbert expressed her gratitude for the upcoming payments and the settlement of the debt in her reply.
