Correspondence Regarding Heirship Payments of the Choctaw and Chickasaw Tribes, 1949-07-09
Scope and Contents
Mrs. Maud Thompson wrote to Representative Carl Albert inquiring about payments to the heirs of deceased members of the Choctaw and Chickasaw Tribes for the sale of their coal and asphalt lands to the government. Representative Albert responded, informing her that the office of the Five Civilized Tribes is handling this matter and that proof of heirship notices will be mailed to the heirs of deceased members. He suggested that if she and her children do not receive the notices, they should write to the Superintendent of the Agency to request them. Mrs. Thompson also asked if she could receive a part of her deceased husband's claims and how to apply for them.
