Correspondence Regarding Heirship Claims of Deceased Chickasaws, 1949-07-22
Scope and Contents
Judge George I. Sneed of Marshall County, Oklahoma, wrote a letter to Congressman Carl Albert on behalf of Mrs. Annie Brown, a Chickasaw Indian seeking assistance in claiming payments for her deceased mother and husband. Judge Sneed expressed his views on the importance of local government independence and the need for aid to education, as long as it does not involve government control. Congressman Albert responded, providing information on the process for claiming payments for deceased Chickasaws and offering assistance.
