Correspondence Regarding Heirship Claims of Choctaw and Chickasaw Tribes, 1949-09-08
Scope and Contents
Mrs. Vivian Hays Wallace wrote a letter to Congressman Carl Albert regarding the claims of heirs of the Choctaw and Chickasaw Tribes of Indians. The Congressman's office acknowledged the receipt of the letter and informed Mrs. Wallace that after all living enrolled members of the tribes have been paid, notices of proof of heirship will be sent out to the heirs of deceased members. The agency will determine who the legal heirs are, and they do not have to be on the rolls of the tribes. Mrs. Wallace was advised to wait for further instructions from the agency.
