Choctaw Tribal Members to Decide on Principal Chief Office: A Ballot for Preferences, 1952-07-31
Scope and Contents
The Secretary of the Interior is seeking input from Choctaw Tribal members regarding the office of Principal Chief. Some members believe the position is unnecessary and all tribal funds should be distributed equally, while others support re-appointing the current Chief or continuing the office after the incumbent's term ends. A ballot has been provided for members to express their preferences, including the option to suggest a specific person for the role. All ballots must be returned by July 31, 1952, to be counted.
