An Open Letter to Senator Elmer Thomas: Seeking Support for Choctaw Chief Appointment, 1951-01-01 - 1952-12-31
Scope and Contents
The letter is written to Senator Elmer Thomas, requesting his support for the appointment of James H. Belvin as Principal Chief of the Choctaws. The writer expresses dissatisfaction with the current Chief Durant and questions why they do not have the right to choose their own leader. The writer believes Senator Thomas has enough influence to help in the appointment process and urges him to consider the majority of Choctaws who are calling for a change.
