Scope and Contents
Senator Fred R. Harris received a letter from the Mayor of Arkansas City, Kansas expressing concern about the Chilocco Indian School not being included in the Bureau of Indian Affairs' 1973 fiscal budget. The Bureau explained that they are conducting a study on off-reservation boarding schools, including Chilocco, to determine future funding and support for the program. Senator Harris promised to do all he can to help reinstate funding for the school.
