Scope and Contents
Beatrice Medicine, a professor of Anthropology at San Francisco State College, sent a petition to Senator Fred R. Harris on behalf of Sioux Indians in Wakpala, South Dakota, regarding the misuse of Title I and Johnson-O'Malley Funds designated for the education of their children. The petition was signed by 43 Sioux Indians despite harsh weather conditions, and they requested immediate action to retrieve misused funds and ensure that future funds are used properly to benefit their children.
