Scope and Contents

The document is a series of correspondence regarding the request for the removal of Talmage Heard as Superintendent of Fort Sill Indian School. The Bureau of Indian Affairs conducted a program review and determined that changes are needed at the school. The request for Heard's removal was made by a number of Indian people, and a tribal resolution was presented to the Bureau. The Bureau is reviewing the situation and will provide a full report and take necessary action. Senator Fred Harris is involved in the communication and is working on behalf of the requesters.
